Impressions of CoreMedia’s first hackathon

by on April 27, 2012

The last two days we had the first CoreMedia Hackathon in our Hamburg HQ offices. CoreMedia has a long tradition in self organized events and unconferences, but this was a new format tailored to our strong engineering culture. Around 60 software engineers, UX designers, dev-ops and consultants came together to hack great stuff in self-organized teams. The only rule was “working software and beautiful code” at the end of the two days.

The amount and quality of ideas were amazing – I believe even more than we were participants. After the presentation of ideas the most favorite topics where elected and around 8 teams formed themselves and started hacking. Everyone was eager to have the coolest piece of code ready at the end of the two days in order to win CoreMedia’s first hacking trophy and other cool stuff like Señor Developer t-shirts.

Lounge hacking with our brand new fatboyas

A full truck delivery of fatboys and the perfect choice of energy drinks, Astra and pizza helped everyone to get into the flow and stay focused all night long. We will share some more insights on some of the crafted software very soon here on this blog as well.

I’ve enjoyed these two days very much, to summarize it short: Heavy geekdom all over the place!
